Structuring CIP
and Process Cleaning

Clean-in-place cycles need to balance cleaning effectiveness against production changeover time.

THE CYCLE

What a Standard CIP Cycle Covers

Stage 1

Pre-Rinse

Removes bulk residue before chemical contact, reducing chemical demand in the next stage.

Stage 2

Alkaline/Acid Wash

Alkaline cleaners address organic soil; acid washes address mineral scale — often alternated.

Stage 3

Final Rinse & Sanitize

A validated sanitizer step closes the cycle before the line returns to production.

COMMON ADJUSTMENT

Balancing Time Against Effectiveness

The most common request we get is shortening cycle time without compromising validation — this is usually addressed through concentration and temperature adjustment within the chemical's validated range, not by skipping a stage.
